Daintree, Mossman Gorge and Noah Valley Tour from Port Douglas

About This Experience

Tony's Tropical Tours picks up from Port Douglas hotels and heads first for Mossman Gorge, where a guided walk follows the river as it runs over granite boulders. From there the group boards a Daintree River cruise to look for estuarine crocodiles, birds and butterflies, then crosses the river on the ferry and climbs to Alexandra Lookout for morning tea with muffins, biscuits and coffee, looking out over the estuary to the Coral Sea.

North of the river the route continues to Cape Tribulation, with a stop at Kulki Lookout above the beach. The part that sets this tour apart is Noah Valley, a private property inside the World Heritage area. You walk the Gateway to Paradise track to see one of the most primitive flowering plants still growing, then swim in a clear rainforest stream while lunch is cooked: steak, fish or a vegetarian option, with salad, bread and fruit.

After lunch an interpretive walk looks at how every part of the rainforest depends on the others, and the day closes at the Daintree Ice Cream Company, where the ice cream is at your own cost. National park fees, entry to Mossman Gorge and Noah Valley, water, umbrellas and insect repellent are all covered.

It suits Port Douglas visitors who want a full guided day with two rainforest walks, a swim and a river cruise, and who like small-group touring. The tour does not collect from Cairns or the Northern Beaches; guests staying there are offered a central Port Douglas meeting point. It needs at least two guests to run, and it is not set up for children under 7 or anyone with limited mobility.
